Nike Air Max Plus
The Nike Air Max Plus was released in 1998 and was the first running shoe to contain Nike’s Tuned Air System. The way the Nike Tuned Air System broke down: two polymer hemispheres that hit into each other, resulting in absorbing shock. When the Nike Air Max Plus was released in 1998, it was a popular model that had recently gained popularity.
Nike Air Max Plus History
Designed by Sean McDowell, the Air Max Plus was also known as the TN1 and Air Tuned. Palm trees inspire the waves on the panels, while a whale tail inspires the arch shank. When initially launched, the model had a following in the United States. However, for many years, the shoes were loved in Europe, and at one point, Nike released the AM Plus in exclusive color options in Europe.
In 1998, you could purchase a pair in the US for $125. Different color variations of the Nike Air Max Plus have been released, but a few pairs are all-time favorites for many and sold very well. For Example, the first color scheme to drop was dubbed Hyper Blue, and that flew off-shelf. Another pair, the Orange, Black, and Red, known as “Sunset,” did very well.
Nike Air Max Plus Colorways
When it comes to colorways, the most popular are the “Sunset,” aka “Tiger,” and the “Hyper Blue” iteration. Both were originally released in 1998, and we would see retro releases throughout the years. While the model hasn’t had a ton of collaborations, Supreme dropped three colorways of the model in 2020.
